Together with HK,NZ,Australia has no guarantees for any cash deposits held by banks .

Ironically USA has federal deposit insurance to an amount of US$ 100,000 per personal account eg you could have 300,000 between your spouse/partner individually and a shared account .

The only saving grace is that in case of bank bankruptcy depositors are first in line which won't do you any good if your are relying on such deposits for income .

In fact strangely,one could make a case for investing in shares with dividend paying records.
