roy, in the market you describe there would be no sellers, everyone would be a buy and hold forever...
aside from CFD's there are numerous ways to "short the market"...
every day insto's short markets and will continue to do that as long as markets exist...
why shouldn't retail traders have the same option?
there are prudent cfd providers...one has operated here since 2000 without incident
