    If your argument is that the market could have dipped 25% (it didn't) and therefore even when losing the upside he made a good decision, you're a gambler.

    Yes, cash is a risky asset. Not only do you lose upside gains, but you're losing value in inflation and that cash will now buy you less in terms of assets than it did the prior year.

    If you went risk off every time the market hit all time highs, maybe you should have stopped investing in the 1980s and stuck to holding that "risk free" asset of cash instead.

    Who am I kidding, you're financially illiterate.
