I am not sure from where you got info. The last 3 months or 6 months total FUM cum dividend has increased more than the indexes.
I will give you the figures again.
End Feb 21 total FUM - $100 B. S&P500index 3901
End Sep 21 total FUM - $ 113 B. S&P500index 4307
End Sept 21 total FUM - $ 115 B S&P500index 4307
These are excluding dividend yield where MFG is better by 2% for 6 months.
Any period longer than 6 months the Covid adverse impact comes into play for MFG. So to avoid that you go back pre Covid period and look at the figures to Dec 2019.
This is the type of analysis, balanced analysts should put out, while admitting for 12 months under performed but to the rest of the period done much better than the others.
