A good piece in the Intelligent Investor today on MFG, and which makes an important point that is repeatedly illustrated by the discussion around the funds management that dominates these threads (mostly instigated by a NON-holder). The point is, this is a company with a growth and diversification strategy (Barrenjoey, Guzman and Gomez, and Finclear) not yet appreciated by most analysts and definitely not the punters via the share price. It is that potential that got me interested. For example, Barrenjoey is profitable and there could be a merger in the future. I guess that's why the constant dissecting of the funds performance with different time frames/calculations and comparisons to a completely different funds management company is a bit of a bore and misses the big picture, in my opinion.
