WELLINGTON Capital continues to offload excess property stock, selling a Queensland shopping centre for a healthy $11.5 million.
Bill Silverman, head of the acquisitive Whistle Funds Management, bought the Coles-anchored property set on a 1.32ha site at Highfields, near Toowoomba in Queensland's southeast.
Headed by Brisbane lawyer Jenny Hutson, Wellington acquired the Premium Income Fund after the collapse of its parent company, MFS, in January 2008. Wellington has been trying to sell down properties in the former Premium Income Fund ever since.
Highfields Plaza is a single-level shopping complex about 13km north of Toowoomba and 125km west of Brisbane.
Built in 2007, Highfields Plaza occupies a 1.32ha island site on Plaza Circle.
Anchored by a 3038sq m Coles Supermarket, with 12 specialty tenancies, a kiosk and three ATMs, the site has a gross lettable retail area of 4269sq m. The fully tenanted complex has parking for 186 vehicles.
