"Even Macqaurie Group has not quantified the amount they will be raising through the retail SPP."
I thought I saw in a MQG announcement that the SPP was for up to $200m - although it may have been a comment by an analyst (or I am imagining things). But I do not think it will go much higher than this as it would be raising equity at a ~30% discount to current price.
"Do you know the exact number of shareholders on the register?"
Number of shareholders as of 23 April is 133,282 - this is from the annual report. Of course this will have moved around a bit from then to the record date, but if we use it as a proxy and assume max take-up the proceeds would be 133,282 times $15,000, which is just shy of $2bn. Obviously full take-up won't happen, but it gives you an idea of what the magnitude of scaleback will be if take-up is high and SPP size is low.
I do not want the above to happen - I would love a full allocation at a 30% discount to the trading price, but I think some sort of scaleback is highly likely to occur.
