I was doing some work on newly announced port at port augusta. Thought to share few things after considering transportation cost n distance.
so from project site to Yunta the distance is 40kms. Yunta to proposed new port (power station road) is 215 km totalling 255 kms approx.
The selective mining 2019 is based transportation cost from the project site to Adelaide port. The total distance from project site to Adelaide port is around 375kms. This suggests me atleast there would be 1/4 less transhipment cost compared to Adelaide. May be even more less, reason being the new port would be develope in align with modern tech and will be specifically built for iron ore export with better facilities.
It is surprising for me to find out that there is a direct road available from the project site to Adelaide. May be its a dirt road called lillydale road. The total distance is around 250Kms to Adelaide. Alot more time consuming to reach that distance suggesting me its a dirt road but can be upgraded in the future.
For those who dun know about the iron peak project is that it is a part of razorback project. Total resource from actual razor back is 2.9b tonnes and approx 1b tonnes at iron peak. Iron peak resource is 1-2kms east of razorback site n they collectively forming 4b tonnes of total iron resource. Exciting time ahead guys. Fingers crossed.
