Not everyone is a trader, there's far more holders than traders and those holders are in it based on the fundamentals, only buying/selling on news or announcements is not a great investment strategy.
FOMO really only applies to short-term outlooks on rapid price movements, which is only relevant to traders.
You won't be able to pick tops and bottoms, price will move without any news and announcements, both up and down and sideways.
