Australia is exceptionally well positioned to enjoy a profitable trading relationship with China. China seems intent on improving living standards domestically which has a flow on effect to neighbouring countries and trading partners. From the Greek Civil War and the spurning of Ho Chi Minh's reaching out the USA could b seen as a serial aggressor. Supplying expensive weapons and military training does not usually go toward raising living standards. Commercially applied CSIRO know-how and a well managed source of magnetite ore should lead to all round satisfaction and warmer trading relations. The present Cabinet attitudes, unless religiously motivated, are inexplicable.
