Really! So because 84% of Russia's population 'like' Putin he must be a wonder boy. Here is a list of leaders who have been extremely popular over the years and,no doubt you, but no one else, would, with hindsight, welcome them:

Hitler;

Stalin ;

Mao;

Pol Pot.

Yes, I believe, that for quite a long time, they were all very popular, but weren't we Aussies lucky that they were not popular here (with the exception of dyed in the wool Communists like Burchett, wharfies and certain elements within the rarefied halls of academia (the name Stewart McIntyre come immediately to mind), of course.

And whilst in no way comparing him to any of your mates listed above, don't forget our own dear leader, the hapless and hopeless leader, and our own Ruddy Duddy had a popularity rating, when he was elected, reaching into the stratosphere. And look what happened to him, thrown into the dustbin of Australian political history. Being 'popular' certainly didn't help him, or Australia!
