No, they just have to follow the trail. That is from above the US Navy exercise where radar was lost, to the Maldives & then Diego Garcia. I'm sure a bit of basic detective work, plus access to US/Boeing\rolls-Royce data, would clarify matters immediately. Then independent (maybe Russian, lol) autopsies on the passengers, that is non-american govt. Then we'd have a chance to find out what happened.
