With officials saying the cockpit doors are locked from the inside and with the captain having extensive knowledge of the aircraft to the point he even had his own flight simulator in his own home has anyone been looking into the captain's domestic situation or private life? He would surely know how to disable the various comms drop the altitude to avoid radar and ditch it in the ocean hundreds of km's away in an act of suicide. Maybe got the co-pilot to step outside then locked him out?
I know its a bit far out but it's the only outcome i can think of that fits the current known knowns.
Doesn't appear the two stolen passport holders would have been involved as they didn't care which plane they flew on as long as it was cheap.
