evidently, some people have managed to ring out the phones of family members who were on the plane.

i'm no authority on phone carriers, but i'm pretty sure the implication here is that some of the phones may still be in tact? otherwise they would go to recorded message, no?

which also makes me think that a lead using the Find My Iphone service is not entirely out of the question yet.


a friend of mine dropped an iphone out of his pocket into thick scrubland from 5000ft whilst parachuting and we recovered it using the feature.

i would have presumed this angle would have been considered by now, but judging by some of the ridiculous statements and propositions i have read in the press coming from authorities involved in this case, it would not surprise me to hear they haven't thought of it yet.
