"Quite farcical search and investigation. Nearly all information would have been known/available within the first 48 hrs, yet was released in dribs and drabs over a two week period?"
I agree Zero, but I think a lot of it comes down to it being such an unprecedented event. The Malaysians were clearly not prepared for a tragedy like this and I think a LOT of countries would have bumbled their way through it as well.
I can't remember any airline disaster (except 9/11) getting as much media exposure. The media are in a frenzy over all of this which I am sure is not helping the cause. There have been continual leaks to the media and media speculation which has made this farcical.
I'd like to think if it were Australia, we would have handled it a lot better. I think a lot of countries should be ashamed of themselves as they seem to be playing games not wanting to show their cards. I still can't understand how the Thais came out with their radar info more than a week after the event. I think if anything, countries will have learnt a lot from Malyasia's mistakes. And hopefully if it happens again in the future, countries will be more prepared to collaborate using whatever info they have.
But, I agree, this has been farcical. Malaysia has done a lot wrong, but the they are not totally to blame.
