- The arcs don't go near the Maldives. They are off the west coast of Oz up through Indonesia and then into Asia. If the plane crashed near the Maldives the Inmarsat arc data would have to be wrong.
- The Maldives sighting does present a problem in terms of fuel. The sighting was at 6:15am Maldives (9:15am Malaysia). The plane supposedly ran out of fuel at 8:19am (Malay time).
