it is unlikely that a black box will be of any use if you consider the events which could have led to it flying that far of course.
I mentioned on another thread the "swiss cheese" model for determining the cause of accidents in aviation. Without being able to conduct forensic investigations on the actual wreckage, even a recording on a black box might prove to be of little use.
This is likely to remain the Mary Celeste of our times.
