"Accident looks like the long shot to me at this stage - so many things would have had to happen at such precise moments and in quick succession."

Well consider the precise series of orchestrated events that must have been planned and performed for something other than an accident...

- Control/disabling on some 200+ passengers

- Evasion of radar, both civil aviation and military of multiple countries or at the very least counting on no-one noticing a huge unidentified plane flying over the country

- Evasion visual identification of fishing/tourist/military-patrol boats that would likely have been in the area and of course would probably notice a huge plane flying at the conjectured low altitude to avoid civil and military radar...

Talk about precision planning and detailed knowledge for anything other than an accident or even a hijacking attempt gone wrong...

However it is all speculation and what does seem to be driving quite a bit of this is that the Malaysian Government/MAS does seem to be acting as if they want to "muddy the water" and hold back details for some reason...

That could also be a quite valid procedure in this case for reasons we dont know, of just hamfisted PR handling typical of Malaysian Government caught badly off guard and unprepared...
