Yes the CVR I understand still has a 2 hour loop…(correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this was based on massive world-wide pilot grumbles - via IATA - maybe this flight will finally change the specifications) but given modern technology….I think they can go back a couple loops or more….it may be difficult - but I believe it is possible. Anyone can confirm - that is more up to date? In another life I maintained a CVR deciphering setup - mostly a bank of expensive Japanese components for an airline overseas….Didn't use it much of course….and for anything even slightly serious…managers used it…I wasn't allowed to hear. I just set up for them…. Anyway if the FDR…or FDDR now…is found. They can glean a lot from it….a lot of system and navigational data there.
