venezuela, colombia end impasse BEIJING, Feb. 16 -- Venezuela and Colombia have agreed to turn a new page by leaving behind a diplomatic crisis sparked by the capture of a Colombian rebel leader.

President Hugo Chavez and Colombian counterpart Alvaro Uribe have held a closed-door meeting lasting more than four hours. Chavez described the talks as constructive. He also announced a full resumption of commercial trade between the two sides and declared commitment to fighting terrorism of any kind. The capture of a prominent Colombian rebel on Venezuelan soil led to the biggest crisis in bilateral relations over the past decade.
