True. It really depends on the way one assesses the motivation of the person using these words. I have more often than not just laughed at the choice of word used when used by a friend as it is not used with malice. Besides, Aussies are pretty laid back with such matters. I felt more alarmed when working in London as a young teacher being called Ms x by the Principal because in Australia we all used Christian names among ourselves. I felt like he was admonishing me for some unknown reason. lol
