    Gself,

not sure where the US$0.80 production costs at Century came from.

It was announced it was US$0.61 - $0.68 including the pre-strip they brought forward.

Now that was based upon a much stronger $A.
Given costs are predominantly in $A (which was further endorsed on Friday by Michelmore), you would think that the costs have now come down to the equivalent of approx US$0.50.

With further cutbacks, I'm sure that there is an opportunity to further reduce this. So, Century may not be the significant drain as many believe.

I also think that many dont quite realise how expensive it is to close a mine and the costs associated with it. In addition, you cannot just flick a switch when you want to get it going again.

The most prudent thing to do is to continue reducing the fat out of century. Have it breakeven (or even a small loss), and keep it running. Let supply shrink though the closure of mines by competitors. For all we know, Zinc may have bottomed. You just want to be there operating if zinc moves up again.
