I use to work with the lead mechanical designer on that and the award is well deserved. They did some really nice engineering to support the core technology.
It is not new though, as the depth of talented product development professionals in Melbourne alone is amazing (think Invetech, Hydrix, Planet Innovation and Grey Innovation). It's just that most of the work is for overseas companies. I agree with Cameronwalters - the venture capital and investment in development of products here is paltry. That why we are having trouble creating jobs for the ex-car builders.
