That view differs with most organisations and experts, but I can't say I disagree. I liked it when everything was on-premise. The cloud is deemed cheaper than hardware, and some of the pricepoints for cloud are really low, but I haven't seen many meaningful comparisons to on-prem recently. The key issue is most organisations don't have the skillset, focus, or understanding to maintain an on-premise inftrastructure which would make them more vulnerable. The infrasture may be cheap now, but the ability to keep it secure, whilst having an digital presence (which introduces vulnerabilities) is the problem. People did not have significant digital presence many years ago so were not introducing risks. Would like on-premise to come back, but can't see that happening. Its a bit like the argument in the past where every factory had a generator. They didn't want to join a grid. That changed when the pricepoint changed and everyone joined a grid.
