i can’t help but think that Sayona may also be considering midstream processing as a cheaper way to produce a more refined product for either Moblan or NAL. I wonder if they may add this alternative to the ongoing study that is comparing carbonate vs hydroxide for NAL. My gut tells me that it may be best to stay on course with carbonate if it is determined superior to hydroxide, but lithium phosphate may need to be looked at. A key consideration would be if adopting midstream processing to produce lithium phosphate would be considered a valid refined product to reduce the offtake agreement with PLL so that PLL only get any remaining spodumene that is not refined, or the alternative is to develop a new agreement that benefits both companies.
