Currently SYQ is shipping spod about 10,000 nautical miles to Northern Asia for processing.
At the earliest, it will be three years (probably longer) before we can refine spod in Canada.
Because of the vast resources that SYA, refining capacity will always lag behind our ability to dig it up.
Let’s say refineries in the US come into operation before those in Canada, we could always transport spod to those refineries by rail and by ship.
This is where the reduction of waste 8x or 10x is equally relevant to SYA in Canada as it is to PLS or MIN in Australia.
Transporting excessive waste is expensive.
