It's been happening for a long time. It may be a generation issue, not much wind around which is a stark contrast to summer.
Or it could be insulators didn't get washed when they needed too, although its been quite wet or just a breaker tripped and the person on call out lives 2 hours away. It could be any of a long list.
My point still stands on regards to generation even though Cherry decided it was crap. Increased demand with Iluka's REE coming online and increasing population with faulty and aging wind generators and an extensive power network should see the SE peaker plant get significant utilisation periods.
