It is far more than just the 1 km that affects frontier though, 100km strech of track with all surrounding land that is PRIVATELY owned being given world heritage status and denying people a right to a say in their own environment. It wll also prevent other activities such as logging although the area will not be listed for environmental reasons.

If we pay off Frontier and leave it at that, another miner will come along and do it anway.

If our own private property was at risk because some foreign government claimed some cultural signifance would we just let them have it? the french could claim La Perouse and the Dutch Van Diemans land', The Kanakas sugercane land...oh the list is endless. We wouldnt even let aboriginal people make claims here against privately owned property.

It is just too imperialistic and hypocritical beyond words.
