I know some are saying that the charge will flood the hospital ERs. But I think it will empty GP waiting rooms, so that visit to the doctor will be a next day affair, instead of the crazy week or more it takes now to see a GP.
If people are faced with a big wait at the ER or walking straight in to a doctor's surgery, I think they will pay the $6 happily.
A lot of people talk about clogged ERs, but that is because doctor's rooms are filled with free chats with people who would not be there if it was not free.
Anyway, free medicare is just about unaffordable, and if it is not managed, the whole system could break down.
