Even though UXC & AWS are in a completely different league , it was still interesting to read the the contract detail for UXC and trying to look and/or understand the scale or scope of possible contracts that AWS are investigating and how any succesful tenders will impact upon overall operations , its probably way off but with ex WA water board : Anthony Lewis on board hopefully
his expertise and understanding of water infrastructure will have a positive bearing on the Co adding additional revenue streams to the existing primary core business
I think it was mentioned that ( if ) they can sell out HI and lock out with approx 3M this would decrease their overall lv of debt to around 6M ? is that right , even then they will still need to knock that down to a manageable lv which will take time .

I have listed some details on WA community water grants projects , they may or may not be specific to AWS but the imformation will provide an overview of various water contracts and pricing models .they are not largely expensive contracts although there appear to be alot of small and mid scale opportunities that could collectively move the Company fwd . see below

1068 Installation of Self-Sufficient Water Supply for Community Facilities, Dandaragan, WA Danaragan Youth Places and Spaces This project involves the installation of a rainwater tank to supply water to community facilities at Dandaragan which are currently not connected to town water supply. This project will provide the community buildings with a self-sufficient water supply and prevent the need to cart in treated water. By saving 40,000 litres of water, it is hoped that this effort will encourage other community groups to undertake similar projects. $2,954.55

Dalwallinu Football Oval and Hockey Field to Sub-surface Irrigation Shire of Dalwallinu The project will convert existing irrigation of the town's playing fields to sub-surface irrigation to allow for more efficient watering. Since the current method uses more water than available, the fields cannot be irrigated for the entire summer period - the new method will allow the fields to be irrigated for the entire season instead of stopping before the season ends due to a lack of water. These changes will save 9,600,000 litres of water per year. $45,454.55

Installation of Automatic Irrigation System at Serpentine Sports Reserve Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale This project will save water by installing an automatic sprinkler irrigation system to replace a travelling irrigator. This replacement will allow the amount of water used to be regulated according to varying conditions, and for the irrigation to occur outside of daylight hours to minimise wastage through evaporation. $39,090.91

1169 WA College of Agriculture - Narrogin Water Efficiency Project Western Australia College of Agriculture Narrogin This project involves installation of tanks to collect rainwater from buildings at the Western Australia College of Agriculture, Narrogin. Collected water will be used to irrigate gardens and reticulate an on-site farm. These changes will save 15,900,000 litres of water each year. $40,340.91

1188 Supply Rainwater Tanks to the Boulder Short Stay Facility City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder This project will provide safe potable water for Aboriginal communities who are staying at the Boulder Short Stay Facility. The water will be collected by harvesting rainfall from the roofs of buildings in the community. This water supply will assist the service in providing an access point for the education and rehabilitation of Indigenous people in the area. This project will save 75,000 litres of water per year. $5,454.55

5615 Reticulate Treated Wastewater to Golf Course Shire of Irwin This project will re-use treated effluent to irrigate the Dongara Golf Course greens. A water efficient irrigation system will be installed to be used in conjunction with the stormwater, and existing bore water. This project will save 7,000,000 litres of water each year. $45,454.55

UXC wins $22.5 million QLD water contract

Australian technology services company UXC Limited (ASX:UXC), through its wholly owned business unit Fieldforce Services, has been awarded a contract worth at least $22.5 million to provide water conservation services in Queensland.

The contract by Local Government Infrastructure Services for the Queensland Home WaterWise Service for South East Queensland will see Fieldforce provide water conservation services to some 150,000 households over a contract period of two years, with a further one year option.

UXC Executive Chairman Geoff Lord commented that “Water conservation and other environmental services represent an area of great focus and potential for substantial growth in the Utility Services Division of UXC. Environmental Services is already making a significant positive impact on our results, and this contract will continue our growth into FY07.”

“This contract win, along with our previous success with Sydney Water, helps to confirm our market leading capabilities in this area. Fieldforce continue to develop further environmental offerings around solar heating and other technologies, and we are excited about our additional opportunities in these areas,” he said.

“We are also pleased to be integrally involved in water conservation and energy saving programs that are of increasing economic importance to Australia, both state by state and nationally,” said Lord.

Mr Craig Bathie, General Manager of Fieldforce, said “The Joint Venture was able to rely upon our strong track record and previous experience in delivering these or similar services to some 400,000 homes for various utilities and agencies in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and South Australia over the last 6 years.”

“In addition, our data management capability complements this offering in that we have developed a paperless system for capturing field data and transferring it from the field and back again, enabling the local governments to benefit from real-time access of the data in monitoring the progress of the work,” said Bathie.

The contracted services involve conducting water audits and installing water saving devices for some 150,000 households in South East Queensland over the initial two year term. The contract includes the operation and management of the call centre, as well as project management of the program in order to satisfy consumer demand and schedule the provision of services to residents. The timing of the delivery of services is contingent upon the take up rate of the Queensland Home WaterWise Service.
