My eyes lit up this morning when I read that Astellas have acquired a phase 1 Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) drug. Hottod highlighted the target customers from the AGM presentation including BioMarin whose plans included "research of next generation oligonucleotides with the goal of making a safe and effective treatment for DMD". It would now appear that two pharma companies on the target list have DMD drugs or plans for next generation DMD drugs.
Given that the AGM presentation highlighted the collaborative work with the Centre for Comparative Genomics - restoring dystrophin levels by FPP mediated delivery of DMD PMO - it would appear somewhat significant.
A deal on FPP mediated delivery of DMD drugs may not only be a breakthrough for the DMD community but could be the validation that will light up the Matrix.
