    Unfortunately oil does migrate and disappear. It finds its way to the surface through migration pathways - permeable rocks that outcrop or along faults to surface. So just because oil was probably generated doesn't mean it's still there. That's part of the art- understanding where this may occur, and where it probably doesn't
