nope ----------- very clearly not
we already have homeless - and growing. There's people living in cars and tents and in parks
women, older women, families
we need to do a LOT more than just match migration and housing
also remember that we've got a skills, trades crisis at the same time,
we also have extreme weather event displacements - and more coming - those displacements have been said to be taking YEARS to get rehoused
----- so, it's just not a simple issue - and it really would take some big bold moves to do something with it
Aussies in general will sit back and think - that can't happen to me, I'm alright jack
but, it can - and it does happen to people who didn't expect it ------------------ it's 2024 and conditions in Oz are very different now to normal
we've had massive housing problems before - there was a pretty good article on the 74 Brisbane flood only yesterday or the day before - that was where about 1/3 of the city flooded - it took decades really to recover - and of course, not all recovered - there were suicides, family breakdowns, economic tragedy ----- all these kinds of things take years to play out
Oz is dreadfully slow in getting into gear with such things -------------- atm - we couldn't have a worse set of things coinciding
housing crisis
extreme weather events
trades crisis
coming on the back of years of massive migration
finally Labor seems to be attacking migration - but, it's going to come at a massive cost as well --------- god forbid how farmers will get labour in the next years and factory work will be provided - and aged care workers etc - let alone doctors and highly qualified specialists in many areas of industry
it's a hell of a mess - and has been coming for years
