@Scott th Ratbag; it's my assessment that ASIO has always been totally unfit for purpose and remains so today.

During my university days in the late 1960s I was befriended by students who'd been 'trained' and 'used' by ASIO to spy on ... Australian university students!

IMO ASIO's purpose was malicious way back then and remains so today.

IMO Burgess went overboard today to focus almost entirely on Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. I have no recall whatsoever of him even mentioning at any stage the relentless and merciless slaughter of 40,000 Palestinian civilians and the mutilation of another 87,000 of them by Netanyahu's Regime, let alone the assessment of the International Court of Justice that Netanyahu's Regime is GUILTY of apartheid. ethnic-cleansing and genocide.

IMO ASIO is totally unfit to honour Australia's core values and is in desperate need of being terminated and replaced by a massively more competent organisation that truly reflects Australia's core democratic and multicultural values.
