I believe that the 915 MHz windshield label being developed by MIK is for the following Transcore product amongst others:

    eGoTM -- Revolutionizing mCommerce Technology
    Amtech Technology
    Product Literature

The newest generation of TM products provides a powerful new entry into the transportation industry’s wireless communications market. Through a series of groundbreaking design innovations, this wireless radio frequency identification (RFID) technology overcomes adoption and cost barriers for large-scale opportunities, opens new markets for ITS applications, and promotes broader acceptance of ITS systems.

The new eGo wireless communications tag is a paper-thin, sticker-like tag with technology that allows user-defined information to be read from or communicated to the tag. It requires no battery and sets a new price/performance level for RFID tags. This new technology is in stark contrast to the larger, read-only or battery-required read/write, higher-priced tags predominantly used today in electronic toll collection, access control or parking applications.

eGo – The Driving Force in mCommerce

eGo® products make many of the envisioned ITS applications practical for immediate widespread deployment. These include mCommerce applications such as:

Drive-through payments for food, gas, car wash

    Traffic management

    Electronic vehicle registration

    Safety enhancement programs

    Wireless emissions control monitoring

This type of technology is ideal for paying for drive-through goods and services or gas without ever having to search for cash, check or charge card. eGo systems can be easily installed in gas stations, convenience stores, fast food restaurants, and other drive-through applications for enhanced customer convenience and speed. For public safety officials who currently have to manually key in or call in and request motorist information, an officer can now, with RFID vehicle registration, have the same information within 1/10 of a second. This translates into improved safety levels for both the motorist and public safety officers. Emission or safety program information can be read and stored in the tag within milliseconds, in contrast to labor-intensive manual monitoring.

Additionally, the eGo product line offers a unique opportunity to incorporate this low-cost product for vehicle registration applications for state and local governments.

    Product Details

eGo transportation products include the eGo windshield sticker tag and a family of the eGo readers.

The windshield sticker tag operates in the 902-928 MHz radio frequency band, and is an RF-programmable device that does not require a battery or connection to the vehicle’s electrical system. It is in the form of a flexible sticker (45 x 85 x 1 mm) much like a vehicle registration sticker. The windshield sticker tag is ideal for integration into UHF- band RFID solutions requiring extended read range, multi-tag sort, read/write, user-defined memory, and low price not provided by other transportation tags. The windshield sticker tag has a 1024 bit memory capable of reading, writing and rewriting information, or permanently locking individual bytes.

The eGo reader is a fully integrated, 902-928 MHz wireless communications device. The reader easily connects to any computer, and will read and write to a passing tag within milliseconds. The reader includes an RF module, digital signal processor, power supply and antenna. The unit is supplied with a pole-mount bracket specifically designed for controlled traffic lanes.

The eGo reader generates an RF signal that is specially coded to communicate to the windshield sticker tag. The tag reflects the RF signal to convey information back to the reader. The reader passes the tag information to a local host computer for processing.
