I agree with you in general that you need to focus on your primary objective. There is a situation where I believe this is not always possible, although not knowing MIK too well, don't know if it applies to them.

Many companies whilst working at developing a technology, are starved of cash whilst building the opportunity. Rather than having to go to the market for more money all the time, it often makes sense (and gives better credence) to invest in a ready-made product that is going to instantly derive income, even if it be small, to allow continued development of the bigger picture.

In these cases, I have nothing but respect for management who take this approach. It shows respect for the investor rather than diluting registers to the max thereby affecting the faithful the most.
