My machine is still a week or ten days away. I have been practising with out aid and using meditation videos off the internet. Of the videos some of the music I dont find soothing, there is plenty of choice. Many start with an advertisement, fair enough but one sprung an ad half way through! Some have one scene others changing scenes. I think I am probably getting to a shallow meditative state at times. I think it is helpful. I am diagnosed as having attention deficit disorder a type of ADHD which makes it hard to concentrate but I will probably benefit from meditation more than others.
