At the SOA meeting M.D. and Chair were asked to consider initiating a monthly newsletter to all shareholders - full of hard facts and interpretive management discussion ; the Chair was disinterested ; M.D. said he would think about it. At the 249d meeting they were again asked about the idea ; the Chair was responsive to the idea ; M.D. said he had thought about it, decided not to do that, and would do a Webinar with quarterly reports instead. Complexity of CTP's situation was clear then and continues to have risks to be articulated and managed, milestones that all must be met, potential to be achieved, and corporate relationships and manouvres to be negotiated. Commercial negotiations,sensitive industry competition information,legal matters require secrecy but should not block legitimate,frank,detailed,
comprehensive,substantial,timely communication with all shareholders. Electronic communication with
minimum cost,time, effort is available ; an e-mail list is an obvious mechanism. It is not sufficient for
contact with all shareholders to be limited to legally required events. It is not sufficient for CTP to use " lock-down " and minimise shareholder contact. CTP has interested,alert,active shareholders capable of quickly co-ordinating and organising themselves. Effective regularised contact by CTP with all shareholders could engage this potential numerous energy in the benefit of the organisation. CTP should actively and sustainably nurture its relationship with all shareholders by : informing,orientating,educating. alerting,persuading,consulting. A small step has been taken with quarterly Webinars and it needs to be consolidated through the above activities.
