Labels Map: Mindarie 5309 A company wanting to reopen a mineral sands mine in the Murray Mallee of South Australia is planning more talks with local landholders.
Murray Zircon took over the deposit at Mindarie in June after the previous owner, Australian Zircon, went into voluntary administration last year.
Some locals have been critical of environmental damage caused by previous mining and say there has been a lack of communication with farmers.
But Murray Zircon chief executive Eddy Wu says rehabilitation work is being done at the site to help rebuild community confidence and a public meeting will be held this month.
Mr Wu says the resumed mining project could create up to 80 new jobs.
Karoonda East Murray Council says it supports any development that would benefit the region, but has concern over transport issues.
