Why didn't the parents know where they were riding their mini bikes, or did they, but weren't concerned because they were half pissed, had no control or didn't give a sh.. ?
Why didn't the parents know that what their kids were doing was illegal, and for good reason, as it unfortunately turned out ?
Unfortunately, because of weak penalties for feral and hoon offences and police inability, (or desire) to catch a lot of hoon type behaviour, like car stealing and burning, graffiti, and riding mini bikes around the place, on top of piss poor parenting, these things will continue to happen.
The law has to have reasonable penalties to ensure even the stupid don't take these bikes where they should not, as at the moment they can get away with it too easily generally, ... and have no consideration for when things go horribly wrong as it did for this poor young woman.
Put them in gaol for at least 5 years, all of them, ... and not just a slap on the wrist, which is probably all they'll get.
