Phil - I've had lunch with 2 fortune 500 CEOs in my time... Seriously, they are no better then the rest of us. Plus, I phone call and email Mining CEOs all the time. Most are not all that.
As for LD... Did you miss my post about the Cultural significance of LD...? Martu believe people/monsters live beneath the lake... The whole lake. If a mining company digs it up and proves this to be incorrect... What does that mean for a 10,000yr old religion...? Everything is in doubt. For some people they would rather die then know the truth.
My question is... How much to the Martu care about their history? Maybe none... we will find out.
