The cost for an installation in Australia, is 1/3 capital goods, 1/3 labour, and 1/3 profit or margin.
So a $6000 solar panel job will be panels and inverters $2000 Labor $2000 and profit $2000
Labor costs are rising, profits need to rise as inflation eats away, to reducing prices of panels leads to an ever diminishing return.

The only way to to reduce the costs of a system is to reduce the labor/ profit side via economies of scale. A centralised power generator is always cheaper than thousands of subsidized home installations.

Just as everyone having a small abattoir at home with slaughterhouse, boner, freezer, etc would cost more, than a more convenient, centralised abattoir.

-Thing is, the way power generation is being stuffed up, if we want reliable power, we are being forced into providing for it ourselves.

Prior to Beattie stuffing the whole Electrical retailing system in Qld, supply reliability, cost, availability just was not an issue, people just accepted there was sufficient power, and State Govts were doing their job.
Now every second forum is discussing energy problems, and the blame has to lie squarely with State Labor Govts driven by Green idiocy.
