A really good tradesman is looking for work, (or they are a technician, or an engineer).

They are offered work at Cloncurry, Townsville or Brisbane.

So, who goes to live at Cloncurry?

I guess the answer is the best, most highly skilled because he gets offered a lot of money otherwise he won't move there with his family.

A candidate could of course move to the Curry and accept rock bottom salary because he can't get a decent job anywhere else, ever, or he can, just not right now.

I don't know...other than the Town Clerk whose salary depends on rate payers, not sure if CDU gets so much benefit.

I would like to see a copy of the Board paper laying out the pros and cons and cost benefit to CDU, rather than the "Wayne says" justification.

The basis of my position is that there would be a very small segment of the population who would deliberately chose a full time forever life at Cloncurry. Hence to pool of skilled people would be very small, so the pool would need to be enlarged to include lesser skilled, or more people, or higher wages. Facts of life boys.
