Two weeks ago, I was in Nuuk for two days. It is sad to see the conditions under which people there live in poverty and filth. I doubt that most people there can afford to buy the newspaper Sermitsiaq. Sure, many have smartphones, but I don't think they are interested in the political events in their country. They probably also don't know that they have been abandoned by their political elite. ETM really only has one option: active education on the ground. I believe that simply promising to invest in waste disposal and the environment once mining operations commence would make many who live in squalor rethink their stance and support a mining license. This would cost ETM only a fraction of their profits and would truly improve the quality of life for the country and its people.
