Ramelius on a roll with gold July 07, 2008
RAMELIUS Resources (RMS) has continued its gold winning streak with the discovery of a new gold zone.
Drilling at its Golden Orb prospect, 600m south of the successful Wattle Dam gold mine near Kambalda, has defined the new mineralisation, including two significant "Wattle Dam-style" intercepts. The discovery comes just a month after Ramelius recommenced open-pit mining at its wholly owned Wattle Dam project, 25km west of Kambalda, in preparation for underground mining in the December 2008 quarter. The company commenced open-pit mining at Wattle Dam in March 2006 and has forecast gold production this financial year of up to 70,000 ounces. The Golden Orb zone is on the same contact as Wattle Dam, and is open to the north, south and down dip. The best intercepts at the Golden Orb prospect included 7m at 10.8 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 117m depth and 4m at 6.9g/t from 103m. A third intercept of 12m at 5.5g/t at a shallow 28m, including 4m at 10.5g/t, was also intercepted from air-core drilling 300m south of Golden Orb. Ramelius is planning a diamond drilling program next month to further test the main mineralised trend at Golden Orb. Its shares closed at 81c on Friday.
