"There is no doubt there is anger amongst mining companies and their shareholders because it effects their bottom line profits, but in reality they are a small minority relative the greater population."

Whilst mining companies, their workers and shareholders may be a small minority relative to the greater population, you also have to add in their voting family members and all the people who benefit from the flow on effect of miners spending their money. This includes a respectable amount of people in retail, finance, insurance, real estate, medical, transport, petroleum and I'm sure the list can go further.

On a second note the coalition doesn't need to win a greater share of the total vote to win government, just the right amount of votes in enough swinging seats and it is cheerio to Rudd.

Disclaimer - This tax changed my vote. I voted Labor at the last Federal election but won't be at this one.

    Cheers
