The Liberals will not recind this tax as it's a popular tax and is needed. Other governments around the world are preparing similar tax legislation for miners in their countries as like our government they need more funding to meet peoples demands.
The citizen's of every country own the minerals in the ground beneath them and can and should be getting the highest possible national return from selling them. As an example I think the Saudi government pays every citizen an annual dividend of about $70,000 from oil sales as every Saudi owns the oil.
