mining tax to future fund, not the govt

We are told that the concept behind the proposed RSPT, Is to ensure that Australians get a greater share of the money the Miners make from Australian Resources; that is something we are all entitled to.

Without going into all the percentages and ramifications involved, the majority of Australians would probably agree with the general sentiment - entitled to a greater share. That is possibly the reason why Kevin Rudd is making it a vital plank of his election campaign.

Ill thought out and hastily drafted, the proposed RSPT has not gained the large support the Govt hoped for; so now we have a massive Propaganda campaign in support of the Project -financed by the taxpayer and supported by a giant chorus of Govt Ministers,Treasury men, Economists, Journos and various Media types.

Just why is this Govt so desperate for the RSPT Funds? They say its to pay for their Health scheme and other goodies but we only have their word for that.
This money would go into General Revenue and could then be diverted into any number of their project/schemes mainly for their good, and not for that of average Australians.

Any monies from this Tax should surely go to the Future Fund, with possibly a percentage going to cover the proposed new Super levy. Then, and only then, would
the ambit for this tax be genuine and not just another stunt.
