The csg industry should bring Ferguson to task over ignorant or deliberately misleading material:
No coal is removed in CSG extraction, just gas from interstitial spaces >>> there can be no subsidence.
CSG extracts the so called "dangerous" methane for commercial gain and economics demands they try to lose as little of it as they can >>> it is open cut and underground coal mining that discharges 100% of those dangerous gases to the atmosphere.
CSG drainage is targeted to remove goundwater from a coal seam so the gas desorbs for extraction... a coal seam being more permeable than the surrounding host rock assists in such localised drainage >>> its kinda hard to contaminate groundwater that is no longer there.
