I would think that the banon export of gas from the Perth basin is likely to change.
I’m sure Premier Cookregrets having been so dogmatic previously and now is back peddling.

Relations with our trading partners ,Japan and Korea in particular need to be considered.
No premier wanting to bere-elected, would want to make an enemy of Stokes, most importantly- Gina, MarkMcGowan, who now is employed by Ellison and Ben. Wyatt, the former treasurer.
Cook would have to have rocksin his headto go against these heavy hitters.
Premier reveals ‘openmind’ on long-standing gas reservation rules

Premier Roger Cook has an “open mind” about changes to WA’s gasreservation policy as he awaits the findings of a parliamentary inquiry intothe effectiveness of the landmark measure.
The closely watched inquiry comes at a critical juncture for theState Government as it attempts to balance the competing demands of slashingdomestic emissions while continuing to aid global efforts to decarbonise.
Ensuring an ongoing supply of affordable gas is pivotal to bothgoals amid growing consensus the fossil fuel — which is less carbon-intensivethan coal — has an important role to play as a transitional source of energy.
WA’s flagship domestic reservation policy requires 15 per cent ofgas extracted from offshore projects to be supplied to the State. It has longbeen credited with keeping a lid on local energy prices.
The inquiry has heard repeated calls from energy companies tooverturn a blanket ban on the export of onshore gas, which they argue willunlock investment in the Perth Basin and help plug projected shortfalls in thecoming decade. Speaking on the sidelines of the WA Energy Transition Summit, MrCook said he was “interested in understanding the issues (those companies)confront in relation to getting their projects going”.
“We’re continuing the conversations with them and importantly, wenow have a parliamentary committee which is doing a long-term investigation andanalysis of those issues,” the Premier said.
Asked whether he expected the inquiry to result in changes to theprinciples underpinning the domestic gas reservation policy or just the way the15 per cent requirement for offshore project is enforced, Mr Cook said he wasnot ruling anything out.
“Let me just say I’ve got an open mind in relation to the outcomesof that inquiry,” he said.

WA’s carbon emissions will grow in the short-term as the Statecharts a “unique pathway” to net zero while supplying the critical minerals andgas needed for the global mission to decarbonise.
That is the message being delivered by Premier Roger Cook as hisGovernment prepares to hand down sector-specific emissions reduction strategiesby the end of the year.
In their most forthright commentary on the issue to date, Mr Cookand Climate Action Minister Reece Whitby said WA had an “internationalobligation to supply the resources that help the rest of the worlddecarbonise”.

“One thing is clear — without WA’s natural gas, countries acrossNorth and South-East Asia will be forced to continue burning coal for theforeseeable future,” he said.
“Countries like Japan, South Korea and Indonesia don’t have theluxury of relying on solar and wind energy to support their transition.”
